We’re Crab Fight, a Yorkshire five-piece mixing rap with heavy riffs, infectious rhythms, huge melodies and cinematic keys. We’re big, melodic, unpredictable and made for dancing, singing and shouting along.

FROM OLD BANDS TO CRAB FIGHT

DIEGO SNAIL

Mark and Sam first played together in prog rock band Diego Snail.

IMPYUS

Mark formed Impyus with Liam and Maff in 2013. Sam and Jim joined the line-up along the way.

DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS

We’d spent years playing together in different combinations, so by the time Crab Fight came together we already knew the kind of band we wanted to be.

It finally felt completely our own. Crab Fight was born.

THE NAMING STORY

2,000+ BAD IDEAS LATER

Naming our new project took around nine months, countless arguments, several hissy fits and, genuinely, a spreadsheet containing more than 2,000 possible names.

Eventually, we became sufficiently exasperated and agreed on Crab Fight.

WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE

RAP HEAVY RIFFS INFECTIOUS RHYTHMS HUGE MELODIES CINEMATIC KEYS

We mix rap, heavy riffs, infectious rhythms, huge melodies and cinematic keys, with very few concerns about where one genre ends and another begins. Jim blends old-school boom bap and modern punk with humour, storytelling and political satire. The rest of us pile into big, communal choruses.

Maff’s keys move from funky hooks and piano to dark orchestral textures and the occasional ’90s computer-game noise. Mark brings the riffs; Liam and Sam keep everything hard-hitting, locked-in and moving.
